Created as a global day of awareness and action for rabies prevention, World Rabies Day is held each year on September 28th. This designation gives our vet in Rancho Cucamonga an opportunity to focus on deadly rabies endemic and to increase rabies awareness and learn about prevention. Dr. M.S. Sidhu and our caring team at Day Creek Animal Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga want you to know the importance of immunizing your pet from rabies and offer this service for our patients as part of their yearly wellness visits.
Rabies is a serious and potentially deadly disease that is caused by a virus that attacks your pet’s nervous system. It is typically transmitted via a bite from an animal that is infected with the disease. Unfortunately, when the outward signs and symptoms of rabies are visible, it is almost always fatal.
Rabies can be prevented in dogs and cats if they receive the proper rabies vaccine to protect them from the harmful disease. Known as one of the core vaccines, rabies is one that your pet needs to get every year for the rest of their life. The rabies vaccine is so crucial to the health of you and your pet that it is required by law for all dogs in the state of California. Although it is not required by law for cats to have the shot, the team at Day Creek Animal Hospital strongly suggests cats get vaccinated against rabies as well.
Are you ready to protect your pet? A great way to celebrate World Rabies Day is to help us spread the word about rabies awareness and to make an appointment with our veterinarian in Rancho Cucamonga to get your pet’s rabies vaccine.
